Nitin Nandan – Director
Nitin Nandan is a debutant filmmaker. Born in Maharashtra, India, Nitin is a Post Graduate in linguistics and has worked widely in television as a director, researcher and scriptwriter on a wide range of topics like environment, self-help and diversity of India’s culture.
A television series on environment Bhoomi, telecast on India’s National Television Doordarshan,directed by Nitin was nominated for the Indian Television Awards and for the Vatavaran (Environment) film awards. Nitin has worked as a director on one of Indian television’s path breaking show “Surabhi” which featured India’s rich cultural heritage. A short film- I AM STILL STANDING - written and directed By Nitin on the ‘Warli’ tribe of India was part of the television series Bhoomi, funded by the Ford Foundation. Nitin has assisted on a short film SAY IT ISN’T SO… which was screened at the New York Film Festival of 2001.Nitin has also assisted renowned filmmaker Shyam Benegal on the film Sardari Begum
Amalendu Choudhary – Cinematographer
Amalendu Chaudhary, known as ‘Amil’ among his friends and colleagues, is the cinematographer of Jhing Chik Jhing. He has always been inspired by the way films are made and their stories. Originally from Pune, it was a sense of adventure that brought him to a studio in Mumbai and start work with renowned cinematographer Mr. Ashok Mehta. Here he acquired skills and techniques of lighting and aesthetics. He is currently the Director of Photography at Maya Sabha Pictures. He has also been a Director of Photography at Sadashiv Peth Films, Mudra Films and They See Films. On his job, he tries to do creative and satisfactory work for various directors who have one thing in common – visuals. Apt composition and lighting in a given time and budget has always been his aim. He recently won the Zee Gaurav Award (2009) for Best Cinematography for his film Bai Manoos.
Raj has been working as a professional film editor for the past twenty years. He began training as an associate director on the film Ghayal which won seven Filmfare Awards. He worked as an associate editor on on successful Hindi commercial films like Damini , Pukar and China Gate . Now he works as an independent editor. Kasturi, one of the films he has worked on, has received a National Award.
He is very dedicated to his job and is a workaholic, but if he does happened to get some free time he likes watching cricket and going on short holidays with his family.
Rahul Ranade comes from the city of Pune, Maharashtra and and is a man of many talents. What led to complaints from his Grade 1 teacher has eventually grown strong as a professional career for him. He started playing the ‘tabla’ at the age of 7 and later trained as a vocalist. He has gone on to explore his skills as an actor, director, an editor, sound-recordist and a composer.
As a music director, he has composed songs for films of renowned Indian filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar.Astitva, Vaastav , Aai and Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai are among the few. He has scored music forMeena a documentary directed by Jasmine Kaur and Avinash, and produced by UNESCO Paris, France. He has worked with Jasmine Kaur in her FTII diploma film called Saanjh, which received a national award. He has also worked on three documentaries produced by UNICEF. Rahul has produced and composed music for more than 200 jingles since 1983 and the Disney Channel’s India launch promo song. He also finds time to serve on the Pune University’s faculty. He recently won the V. Shantaram Award (2009) for best Background Score for his Marathi film Dhudghus.
Rajendra Hegde has been a freelance location Sound Recordist / Sound Mixer since 1979. Graduating from S. J. Polytechnic, Bangalore in Karnataka, he began his career in 1980 in the Films Division of the Government of India and worked under it for three years. Moving on in his career, he took up sound mixing for a number of television serials, game shows, quiz shows and documentaries. He has completed more than 3000 episodes of television content which has TV serials like Turning Point, Rajani, Hasaratein and Shwetambara. Since 1985 he has been widely associated with feature films from the Hindi and Marathi film industry. He has worked extensively with Mahesh Manjrekar, a well-known Indian filmmaker, in films like Virrudh, Vaastav and Aai. His documentaries include Indian Poetry for BBC2. Rajendra has also worked on a few English feature films, one of them – The World Unseen produced by Enlightenment Productions, London.
